The Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium after yet another late Patrick Mahomes rally. San Francisco carried a 10-point lead into the second half, but Kansas City steadied itself and forced the first overtime in Super Bowl history under the new postseason rules. Mahomes then guided the winning drive and hit Mecole Hardman for the championship touchdown, while Steve Spagnuolo's defense repeatedly held the 49ers to field goals instead of touchdowns. Mahomes earned MVP honors as Kansas City secured back-to-back titles.
