The New England Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime in Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium, completing the largest comeback in Super Bowl history. Atlanta led 28-3 late in the third quarter, but New England kept chipping away behind Tom Brady, Dont'a Hightower's strip sack, Julian Edelman's improbable juggling catch, and a sequence of late two-point conversions that forced overtime. James White scored the winning touchdown on the opening possession of the extra period, and Brady's 466 passing yards earned him MVP honors in one of the defining games of his career.
