The New York Giants stunned the previously unbeaten New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII at University of Phoenix Stadium, ending New England's bid for a 19-0 season. The defining sequence came on the Giants' final touchdown drive when Eli Manning escaped a near sack and David Tyree pinned the ball to his helmet for a miraculous third-down catch. Moments later, Manning hit Plaxico Burress for the go-ahead score with 35 seconds left, and the Giants' pass rush finished off one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history.
