The New England Patriots upset the St. Louis Rams 20-17 in Super Bowl XXXVI at the Louisiana Superdome, launching the Brady-Belichick dynasty against the heavily favored Greatest Show on Turf. After the Rams erased a fourth-quarter deficit, Tom Brady calmly moved New England into range in the final minute. Adam Vinatieri then drilled the winning 48-yard field goal as time expired, and Brady earned MVP honors for the late drive that delivered the Patriots' first Super Bowl championship.
