Game Story
The Green Bay Packers beat the New England Patriots 35-21 in Super Bowl XXXI at the Louisiana Superdome, ending the franchise's long post-Lombardi championship drought. Brett Favre threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, Reggie White dominated late with three sacks, and Desmond Howard blew the game open with his 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Howard earned MVP honors as Mike Holmgren's Packers delivered Green Bay's first Super Bowl win in nearly three decades.
