The Washington Redskins beat the Miami Dolphins 27-17 in Super Bowl XVII at the Rose Bowl behind John Riggins and the Hogs. Riggins rushed for 166 yards, delivered the signature moment with his 43-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-1, and earned MVP honors as Washington took control in the second half. Joe Gibbs' first title came through the power running identity that would define his early championship teams.
