The Baltimore Colts edged the Dallas Cowboys 16-13 in Super Bowl V at the Orange Bowl in one of the sloppiest and strangest championship games the league has seen. The teams combined for 11 turnovers, momentum kept swinging, and the outcome was still in doubt until Jim O'Brien drilled a 32-yard field goal with five seconds left. Dallas linebacker Chuck Howley became the only Super Bowl MVP from the losing team after intercepting two passes in the turnover-filled first title game of the post-merger era.
