The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7 in Super Bowl IV at Tulane Stadium, sending the AFL into the merger with a second straight Super Bowl victory. Len Dawson earned MVP honors by throwing for a score and guiding a balanced offense, but the game turned on Kansas City's defense, which intercepted Joe Kapp three times and forced five turnovers overall. Hank Stram's club controlled the line of scrimmage and finished its title run with a convincing upset of the Vikings.
